Acrylic paintings and wood crafts

My acrylic paintings evolve from immersing myself in nature.   While I use photos as my primary source, the visual perspective is only one component.  I also like to try and indicate feeling, scent and sound in my work so the viewer can share fully in my memory of the experience.

My wood pieces range from simple and functional to complicated and decorative.  I use as much reclaimed wood as possible and often prefer to showcase the natural grains and knots of the wood while choosing to paint other pieces.  Whatever I create, each piece is carefully crafted and lovingly finished.

Biography

Creating art and crafting has been a casual hobby of mine for most of my life and has always taken the back burner to other jobs and obligations.  Since entering semi-retirement a few years ago, I decided to jump into my artistic career with both feet!  I have always loved creating new things and challenging myself to learn new techniques.  Over the last few years you can actually see a progression in my landscape paintings towards more realism as my confidence has grown.  My woodworking has also grown more complex as I push myself to learn new techniques and incorporate more detailed painting into my pieces.
